This was the final project for my Design 131 drawing class. It was one out of two classes one needed to take before applying to get into the College of Design program. It was the first time that I ever made a self-portrait, and the first time I used soft pastels. I was inspired by Van Gogh’s self-portraits and really took from his use of swirls and wanted some movement in the background. I also did not blend the colors in the face and left it very directional and focused on the values and texture.
